Laveno

Laveno is just a stone’s throw from Ispra, there was a time when Laveno was one of the main ceramic and porcelain production centres in the area. Today the factories hold XIX Century ceramic masterpieces, like Palazzo Perabò, the current venue of the International Museum of Ceramic Design. The town lies at the foot of mount Sasso del Ferro: board the cable car that takes you to the top, over 1000 meters above sea level, where the stunning views can be enjoyed. Laveno is very easy to reach both, by train and by car, due to its strategic location and is also the most important marina on Lake Maggiore’s eastern shore. It is linked with the other towns of interest on the other side of the lake via the ferries. For those who prefer long walks in the woods, Laveno is rich with hiking trails.
